It Is The Middle of Summer!

It is the middle of summer! Very hot in some places but rarely over 70 here (Fortuna California) but sunny and beautiful . I love living here. July is a busy month. Teaching at the Quilters Affair in Sisters Oregon then home for a week then off to San Diego for the opening of my show at the Visions Quilt museum the 21st. The next morning I fly to Syracuse to teach at Quilting by the Lake!!

I will have a total knee replacement on August 1st then 5 weeks at home to do my therapy and get caught up on stuff around the house.

I hope you have a great creative summer

Summer Is Almost Here!

Summer is almost here!! My garden is waking up and the lawn always seems to need to be mowed. It is a messy garden but I love it.

My sisters and I just got back from memorial day weekend at Trinity lake in Northern California. We have a houseboat there and spent three days sewing red white and blue quilts for our Veterans. Here are pictures of the weekend.

We have a lot of fun and get to honor the vets that keep us all safe. We will get these quilted up and give them to Crystal at the veterans center at College of the Redwoods to give vets in need of a little quilted love.

The first two weekends in June I will have my studio set up at the quilt store STITCH in Ferndale as part of the Humboldt county studio tour. stop by if you are around I will be painting and stitching on my current projects, 20 quilts are hung for your viewing pleasure. more images to come once we are all set up.

Then my family reunion is at the end of the month. This year we are going to Zepher cove at Lake Tahoe, where they have Art Quilt Tahoe. love the location and we have a huge building with 15 bedrooms all to ourselves. So I am looking forward to that.

Have a happy June and enjoy the flowers!!

The Weather Was Perfect!

Alegre retreat this month was highly successful! We had a great time. The weather was perfect! The teachers were wonderful! We had a magician that was mind blowing. Tour of Maureen and John’s home, Tour of his car museum, Hiking the hills and a Helicopter ride for an angels view. Sign ups are going great for next year only 9 spots left in the regular classes and 6 independent study spots!! So we are very excited!! Here are a few of the highlights.

I have a couple of weeks of rest before I am on the road, teaching in Sacramento then making red white and blue quilts for our veterans over memorial weekend, Remodeling my kitchen and getting new floors throughout the house. Family reunion at Lake Tahoe the end of June. The sisters Quilt show in July and the opening of my show at Visions the 21st of July then directly from there to Quilting by the Lake then August 1st I get a new knee at the Coons joint replacement center in St. Helena then a month of recoup and hopefully I will be out on the road again. In between all of that I am starting a new series of quilts all about floral still lifes!! so keeping busy.

Thanks to everyone for their wonderful sympathy cards for me over the loss of my husband. I am doing ok by quilting which always lifts my spirits and gardening,
Have a super great summer
