 Fiber Artist, Katie Pasquini, has traveled the United States, Canada, NewZealand, Australia, Japan, Belgium, Switzerland and England teaching contemporary quilt designing. She has changed her style over the years, starting with traditional works, then creating Mandalas followed by dimension quilts. She is now enjoying landscapes and feels as if she has returned full circle to her beginning as a painter, painting now with fabric. Katie presents her contemporary quilting theories in an easy but energetic manner. Each class is fun as well as educational. She has had several quilts featured in Quilters Newsletter, January and February 1981, to announce her first one woman show in Eureka, California. That began her on the road teaching. Featured in QN meeting place in 1982 and the 15th anniversary issue, her quilts have dotted the pages many times over the years. She was included in Fiber Arts magazine July/August 1983, in the "Gallery". Katie's work was featured as the American Quilters Society cover quilt and story April 1987 and in an article on isometrics in the April 1991 edition; also a cover story on Fractured Landscapes Spring of 1985. She has judged the AQS show in 1989, 1993, and 1996. Her new work "Ghost layers + Color washes" is explained in an article in the AQS spring issue 1999 She is the author of "Mandala: For Contemporary Quilt Designs and Other Mediums," and "The Contemporary Sampler," both reprinted by Dover. "3 Dimensional Design," as well as "Isometric Perspective" and "Fractured Landscape Quilts" by C&T Publishing. Katie has won many awards throughout her career, but considers Best of Show at the Houston Quilt Festival in 1982 and 1986, and at the Pacific International Quilt Show in 1994, her best achievements. She also won first and second at the AQS show in 1995, and her piece "Dimensional Portal" was in the 1991 Quilt National, where it won People's Choice. Her quilt "Rio Hondo" was selected for inclusion in the 100 quilts of the 20th Century. Katie was the 2005 recipient of the Silver Star award.
