A still life of ordinary glasses was set up and photographed for the inspiration for this piece. Each glass was represented as a different color. I enjoyed creating the reflections of the unseen glasses and the straight lines of the background that repeat throughout the piece.

Adante is a copy of a palate knife painting that I painted. It is made up of layers of “paint,” building to the vibrant middle range colors. Commercial fabrics were used to create the paint strokes, turned edge applique, machine quilted.

Legerrio is inspired by a small portion of a larger painting. It reminded me of what music would look like if you could see it. Legerrio means “light and airy.”

Blind Painting!.  Play the music, cover the eyes and paint, paint, paint! Then tada! Using a viewfinder I focused on a tiny portion of the painting enlarging it many times to distort reality.

Big Getty   1998    81"x54"

The second in the Getty series. This quilt includes a sweeping color wash of bright colors that flow with the clouds that float across the solid structure of the building.

Big Sticks 70"x60"

This quilt was inspired from a photograph of a large pile of sticks that I pass everyday on my walk with my dogs. A black and white section is the central focus with a gray band representing the decaying wood. The colors of the quilt represents the earth healing itself.

A photograph of huge Lotus plants in my brothers koi pond were the inspiration for this diptych. Different types of black fabrics were used for one and white for the other. Black and white paint were added as little spots for emphasis.
