Happy New Year to everyone. I had a very special Christmas celebration with my daughter, husband and 9 month old grandson. It was delightful to watch a young child enjoy the Christmas tree. In February I am teaching in Santa Fe so will get to spend time with 4 of my other grand kids so that will be exciting then in May we are all going to Disneyland!!!!!! That is my line up for family enjoyment so far for 2019.
In between I will be teaching around the country. I love teaching and traveling so it looks to be a good strong year ahead of me. I am diligently working on getting some old projects off my design wall so I can once again work on some new pieces for my still life series.
I have finished some pieces from my new class “Jumpstarting your Creativity” a five day course where each day we do different design explorations.
One lesson is using lines to create composition
One is using an inspiration photo to create a grid composition based on the colors and directions of movement from the photo
Another lesson is Distorted still life. where you start with a fused still life then cut it up and arrange it
In my painting series I finished a stitched painting from black and white and red painted canvases
I also finished a quilt from a water color painting
And two Artful log cabins were completed. One inspired from the stitched painting above, and one from an inspiration photo of a plant in purples and greens
It is the middle of summer! Very hot in some places but rarely over 70 here (Fortuna California) but sunny and beautiful . I love living here. July is a busy month. Teaching at the Quilters Affair in Sisters Oregon then home for a week then off to San Diego for the opening of my show at the Visions Quilt museum the 21st. The next morning I fly to Syracuse to teach at Quilting by the Lake!!
I will have a total knee replacement on August 1st then 5 weeks at home to do my therapy and get caught up on stuff around the house.
I hope you have a great creative summer
Happy Easter!! I had a wonderful time the end of March helping my daughter have her baby in Wisconsin. What an awesome experience to share with her as 1.2 of her coach team. He is a beautiful baby boy named Dylan E Hansrote. Just stole my heart, can’t wait to go back for a visit.
And there is always a baby quilt in the making. I am working hard the next few weeks and playing hard too. A trip to our family houseboat on Trinity Lake to celebrate my birthday.
Then home for a few days to do some stitched paintings to sell at Alegre Retreat. The next weekend a trip to Chico California for my nephews wedding and mini family reunion. Then home back for a few days to pack all my stuff and fly off to Gateway Canyons for the 10th anniversary of Alegre Retreat!! so excited about that. It is a great retreat filled with new and long time friends, inspiration all around, Excellent food and informative class and lectures to learn more about Alegre Retreat go to www.alegreretreat.com. Maybe you would like to join us one year. Always in April. Spring is so beautiful there.
Enjoy your spring wherever you are. and Happy Quilting
